JPA Leadership Team
Meet the Council
After growing up in Southern California, Dawn made her home in the Pacific Northwest in 1991. There she pursued an MA at Seattle University in Existential-Phenomenological Psychology in 1994. The many psychoanalytic institutes in town allowed for continued education in the Freudian, Modern Analytic, Relational, Self-Psychology, and Object Relations schools of thought. As being on a path of Individuation will have it, life changes brought Dawn to pursue her studies of Jungian psychology more deeply. Well into an established private psychotherapy practice, she went back to school and earned her doctorate degree in Depth Psychology with an emphasis in Somatic Studies from Pacifica Graduate Institute. Her years of Iyengar yoga, other Eastern practices, and participation in various Indigenous traditions inform her work as well. More recent interest in Norse Mythology has made Iceland feel like a second home. As a life-long seeker, she is currently enrolled in analytical training at the C.G. Jung Institute in Zurich. In addition to the privilege of helping others on their healing and growth journeys, Dawn enjoys writing, singing, dance, and applying her developmental years as a Girl Scout to cultivating connections and community.
Rachel Hilliard, MA, LMHC is a Jungian-oriented psychotherapist in private practice on Whidbey Island. I graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in psychology in 2001, then from Antioch University Seattle with a Masters in 2005. I am a more recent member of the JPA after moving back to Washington State in 2021 and am excited that there is such an active community exploring the deep psyche and Self.
My fascination with dreams began early in life and ultimately led me to Jung. In college, I was deeply impacted by a course on the world's spiritual traditions and this investigation has only intensified over the decades. I'm drawn to working with clients who are actively exploring the transpersonal-- this includes spiritual emergency and the integration of spiritual practices and teachings. The Jungian understanding provides a very helpful framework to integrate the vastness of our explorations while being very much embodied, psychological individuals. Spiritual exploration must include the personal to be grounded. Conversely, a mere exploration of the ego, is limited and doesn't know its deeper ground. I'm grateful to Jung for providing the perfect meeting place for the full spectrum of this rich and endless exploration.
Janet Tatum, MSW, LICSW, is a Jungian Analyst member of the Pacific Northwest Society of Jungian Analysts (PNSJA) for which she is president and is a member of the International Association for Analytical Psychology IAAP. She is vice president of the Board of Directors for the Philemon Foundation which publishes the lectures and letters of C. G. Jung not yet in print. She is a Certified Sandplay Therapist Teaching Member of Sandplay Therapists of America (STA) and the International Society for Sandplay Therapy (ISST), a past president of STA and is a founding editor and a current assistant editor of the Journal of Sandplay Therapy. She has been the program chair for JPA since 2016 and is a past president. She has been a clinical social worker since 1972. She sees children and adults in her practice in Redmond, WA.
Ryan, MA, LMHC, is a licensed psychotherapist, writer, and presenter practicing in Washington State and Illinois. He studied clinical counseling with a focus on trauma at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. In addition, he completed the Jungian Psychotherapy Program through the C.G. Jung Institute of Chicago – deepening his appreciation for Jungian thought and its enduring wisdom and relevance.
Prior to private practice, Ryan was a part of Watch Hill Therapy, a group practice specializing in trauma treatment. There, he honed his skills as a trauma therapist and delivered workshops exploring the connections between trauma and the body, mind, and psyche, as well as the therapeutic application of dreamwork. Earlier in his career, Ryan worked at a residential treatment facility for individuals with severe mental illnesses, providing skills training and counseling, and offering yoga and meditation groups.
Along with dreamwork, Ryan’s interests include relational-depth approaches to psychotherapy, psyche’s relationship with the earth, and non-ordinary states of consciousness and their healing potential. He has appeared on the Myth Salon and the podcast Jung in the World.
Lindsey Rosen, MA, R-DMT, LMHC is a Jungian Psychotherapist practicing in downtown Seattle. She has been a member of JPA for over 20 years, has served as Co-President, and is currently Co-Membership Chair. Lindsey began and now hosts JPA Salons, offering members an opportunity to share creative musings around an archetypal, seasonal theme. In addition to Jungian life, Lindsey can be found at many of Seattle’s vibrant performing arts events, walking and doing yoga with her dog on the beach, photographing the natural world, sailboat racing and kayaking on Puget Sound. Much gratitude to Council and membership for contributing to this unique, nourishing community!
