Welcome to the Jungian Psychotherapists Association (JPA) membership site. By accessing and using our website, services, and membership platform, you agree to comply with the following Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please refrain from using our services.

1. Membership & Eligibility

1.1 Membership Requirements

• Membership is open to qualified professionals, students, and individuals interested in Jungian psychotherapy.
• By signing up, you confirm that all information provided is accurate and complete.
• JPA reserves the right to approve, deny, or revoke membership at its discretion.

1.2 Membership Plans & Benefits

• Membership grants access to exclusive content, events, continuing education resources, and discussion forums.
• Plan details, fees, and benefits are outlined on our Membership Page.

1.3 Account Security

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
• If you suspect unauthorized access, notify us immediately at jpa@jpaseattle.org.

2. Payment, Renewals & Cancellations

2.1 Membership Fees

• Membership fees are billed annually.
• Payments are non-refundable.

2.2 Auto-Renewal

• Memberships automatically renew at the end of the billing cycle unless canceled before the renewal date.
• You can manage or cancel your membership through your account dashboard or by contacting support.

2.3 Cancellations & Refunds

• You may cancel your membership at any time, but no refunds will be issued for the remaining period.
• If your membership includes access to continuing education (CEU) credits, any unused credits are forfeited upon cancellation.

3. Acceptable Use & Member Conduct

3.1 Code of Conduct

By using this site, you agree to:
✅ Engage in respectful and professional communication.
✅ Follow ethical guidelines when participating in discussions, forums, and events.
✅ Use the site for lawful purposes only.

3.2 Prohibited Activities

You may NOT:
❌ Share your login credentials or allow unauthorized access to your account.
❌ Use the site for harassment, hate speech, or discriminatory behavior.
❌ Distribute unauthorized copies of members-only materials.

Violations of this policy may result in suspension or termination of your membership without refund.

4. Continuing Education (CEU) Credits

• CEU eligibility is contingent on full participation and completion of any required evaluations.
• Certificates are issued electronically after verification of attendance.

6. Disclaimers & Limitations of Liability

• JPA does not provide medical, legal, or financial advice.
• We are not responsible for user-generated content shared within forums or events.
• While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee that all information on our site is error-free or up-to-date.

Limitation of Liability:
To the fullest extent permitted by law, JPA is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of our services.

7. Governing Law, Dispute Resolution & Mediation Requirement

• These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington, USA.
• Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising from or relating to these Terms, membership, payments, event participation, or any JPA services shall be resolved exclusively through mediation.

Mandatory Mediation Clause

• The parties agree to attempt to resolve any disputes through good faith mediation before pursuing any legal action.
• Mediation shall take place in Seattle, Washington, and shall be conducted by a mutually agreed-upon mediator or a mediator appointed by the Washington Arbitration & Mediation Service (WAMS).
• Each party shall bear its own costs for mediation, except the cost of the mediator, which shall be shared equally unless otherwise agreed.

Legal Action Limitation

• If mediation fails to resolve the dispute within 60 days, either party may pursue claims only in small claims court in Seattle, Washington, provided the claim qualifies under small claims limits.

8. Changes to These Terms

• JPA reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time.
• Members will be notified of significant changes via email or website announcement.
• Continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

Who we are

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Dispute Resolution & Mediation for Data Privacy Matters

• Any dispute related to your personal data, privacy rights, or how JPA processes personal information shall be first submitted for resolution via mediation.
• Mediation shall take place in Seattle, Washington, using a mediator mutually agreed upon or assigned by the Washington Arbitration & Mediation Service (WAMS).
• If the dispute is not resolved within 90 days, the parties may escalate the matter to Washington State courts, subject to applicable privacy laws.

Dispute Resolution & Mediation for Data Privacy Matters

If you are covered by GDPR, CCPA, or other data protection laws, this mediation clause does not waive your rights to file complaints with regulatory bodies (e.g., FTC, Washington Attorney General, EU Data Protection Authorities).
